Baker Creek Campground is set in a Pinyon-Juniper forested landscape, with the occasional much larger and older ponderosa pine. Find the grey cliffs behind the campground, jutting out from otherwise mild slopes. See Baker Peak and Doso Doyabi from various areas in this little valley.
Recreation: The park offers a variety of trails with views of mountain peaks and alpine lake surrounded by beautiful cliffs at trail's end. Reserve a guided tour of Lehman Caves, take the scenic drive to the face of 13,063 foot Wheeler Peak or see 5,000 year old Bristlecone pine trees grow on rocky glacial moraines. Baer Creek trailhead and Pole Canyon are the two closest trailheads to Baker Creek Campground and are open during the summer months when this campground is open.
Nearby: Don't forget, Great Basin National Park was forshadowed when Lehman Caves was annointed a National Monument in 1922. The cave and its underground wonders are just a few miles away behind the Lehman Caves Visitor Center. Access is by tour only so be sure to book a reservation before you arrive, or stop by the visitor center to check on remaining availability.
