Skidaway Island State Park borders Skidaway Narrows, a part of the Intracoastal Waterway and provides scenic camping, picnicking and hiking opportunities. Visitors come to Skidaway to visit downtown Savannah only a short 20 minute drive away or to enjoy the peace and quiet of being in nature.
Location: The trails lead you through maritime forest, a mix of live oaks, cabbage palmettos, southern red cedar and pines, over salt marshes and tidal creeks out to views of the Intracoastal Waterway. The campground is nestled in a wooded area mostly shaded with a mix of hardwoods and pines.
Recreation: Skidaway offers great access to the water with a boat ramp only 1/4 mile from the park. We have 7 miles of trails for biking and hiking. We also rent bicycles at the park office.
Nearby: Visit the Park's Interpretive Nature Center that houses a giant ground sloth exhibit, birding station, reptile room, and other natural and cultural displays. Programs for all ages are offered year round. The Park is 15 miles from downtown historic Savannah and 25 miles from the beaches of Tybee Island.
